A New Steakhouse in the Heights
The restaurant scene in the Heights is about to get a new addition. Superica, a Tex-Mex restaurant, is closing its doors on February 15 to make way for Star Rover, a casual steakhouse. This change is brought to you by Rocket Farm, the Atlanta-based hospitality company behind several popular restaurants, including State of Grace, Little Rey, and La Lucha.

After a successful seven-year run, the owner of Rocket Farm, Ford Fry, decided it was time to try something new. Fry wants to bring a nostalgic steakhouse vibe to Houston, something that is currently lacking in the city. Star Rover will offer steaks at a lower price point than upscale steakhouses, making it more accessible to a wider range of customers.

The menu at Star Rover will be similar to that of Star Rover Sound, Rocket Farm’s restaurant and honky tonk in Nashville. Customers can expect to find a variety of steaks, including filet, ribeye, t-bone, and skirt, all of which will come with a salad, onion rings, french fries, and dinner rolls. Exclusive to the Houston location will be dishes such as redfish, crab cakes, and lobster, as well as an expanded appetizer menu featuring raw and fried oysters, shrimp cocktail, and potato skins.

One of the unique features of Star Rover will be its eating challenge, called the 76’er Challenge. Customers who can eat a 76-ounce standing rib roast, milk roll, side salad, onion rings, and fries in under an hour will get the meal for free, as well as a t-shirt and the opportunity to sign a winner’s wall. Additionally, the weekend brunch menu will feature some of Superica’s most popular dishes, including its signature pancakes.
