Keyonte George Honored by Lewisville High School
With the Utah Jazz in town to take on the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday, it gave Lewisville High School a chance to honor one of its greats.
On Friday night former Lewisville star Keyonte George, now in his third season with the Jazz, was honored prior to the team’s matchup against district opponent Little Elm. With a herd of his Jazz teammates, his former high school coach and even the mayor of Lewisville in the house for the occasion, George was saluted in a pregame ceremony that highlighted his stellar career thus far and presented with a personalized basketball and plaque.
George was a star at Lewisville from the time he was a freshman, averaging 21 points per game in his first year and winning the District 6-6A Offensive Player of the Year Award. After spending his senior season at IMG Academy in Florida, he went to Baylor where he was the second-highest scoring freshman in program history.

George’s Basketball Career
After spending one season at Baylor he was drafted 16th overall by the Jazz and was named All-Rookie in his debut season. Now in his third year in the NBA, he’s averaging 23.7 points per game and is the Jazz’s second-highest scorer.

On hand to celebrate George were fellow Jazz players Georges Niang, Taylor Hendricks, Svi Mykhailiuk, Cody Williams, Jusuf Nurkic, Walter Clayton Jr., Ace Bailey, Walker Kessler and Isaiah Collier.
Lewisville could’ve used some of George’s dynamic offensive ability once the game actually started, as they eventually fell to Little Elm 67-43.
