Shooting Incident at Hulen Mall
A suspect has been arrested by Fort Worth police and is accused of shooting another man Saturday outside Hulen Mall.
Kyonte Mitchell, 21, was booked into jail a few hours after the shooting occurred at the mall in the 4700 block of South Hulen Street, according to Fort Worth police jail records.
Incident Details
When officers arrived at the grassy area outside the mall between Macy’s and Red Robin about 2 p.m., police said they found a 47-year-old man with a gunshot wound to one of his legs.
Police said an off-duty officer from an outside agency was already with the victim, along with an off-duty emergency medical personnel.
The man had been outside walking toward the location when another man pulled out a gun and shot him, according to investigators.
It’s believed by police that the victim and the accused shooter know each other.

The gunshot victim was taken to a hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury.
As of Sunday afternoon, Mitchell is being held at the Tarrant County Jail on a $125,000 bond for two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

No one answered the phone at the Hulen Mall office Saturday afternoon, but the mall remained open and shoppers could be seen coming and going from the stores.
Macy’s employee Fernanda Barbosa said she was in the men’s department of the store when the shooting occurred. It was close enough to the store for her to hear the shots, she said.
The store wasn’t evacuated, but security personnel locked the door closest to where the incident occurred and wouldn’t let anyone leave by that way for about 10 minutes.
“It was isolated,” Barbosa said of the shooting.
Witness Accounts
Mamta Rizal was working at Sunglass Hut in another part of Macy’s.
“I didn’t even know what happened,” she said.
Rizal said she learned about the shooting from others at the shopping center who had been closer to the incident.
The parking lot was full of cars at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, and Macy’s was crowded with holiday shoppers in spite of the police cars in front of the east entrance and the crime-scene tape around the area next to the door.
