Incident at Frank McMillan Junior High School
A 12-year-old student was taken into custody Thursday after he allegedly made verbal threats toward a school administrator, Wylie Police Department Detective Alexandra Waters said in a statement.
A Wylie School Resource Officer responded to Frank McMillan Junior High School at about 2 p.m. after reports of a student making threats against an administrator, Waters said.
Once the officer arrived on scene, the student continued to make verbal threats and “lunged” toward the officer’s gun several times.
The student, whose name was not released because he is a minor, was restrained and taken into custody, according to officials.
Charges and Disciplinary Actions
He faces charges of terroristic threat with fear of serious bodily injury and attempting to take a weapon from a peace officer, according to Waters.
According to a statement sent out to parents and staff at about 2:50 p.m. by McMillan Junior High Principal Jason Irvin, the student was originally sent to the administrator’s office after he allegedly misbehaved in class.
“The student will not be back on campus and will be disciplined in accordance with the Wylie ISD Student Code of Conduct,” Ervin said in the statement.

Ervin urged that students or parents who know of concerning behavior should report it immediately.
“The Wylie Police Department wants to remind parents and students that we take all threats seriously and will not tolerate any threats towards our campuses or Wylie ISD staff,” Waters said in the statement.
