Francine became a hurricane on Tuesday, Sept. 10. It slowly strengthened as it moved northeast in the Gulf, eventually becoming a Category 2 hurricane before moving inland.

It reached landfall on Wednesday, Sept. 11 in Terrebonne Parish, La, as a Category 2 storm, with maximum winds of 100 mph. New Louis Armstrong International Airport reportedly noticed a wind gust of 78 mph Wednesday evening alongside 7.32 acres of rain within twenty – four hours.
