Violent Carjacking in Bellerose Leaves Uber Driver Injured

Suspect on the Loose

A 52-year-old man was viciously attacked and bitten by a woman while driving an Uber in Bellerose, Queens, and she remains at large more than a week later, according to the NYPD.

The Incident

On October 10th, the Uber driver was picking up a male passenger in front of 241-27-86th Avenue at approximately 10:20 PM when the suspect, who is described as a medium-complexioned woman, approximately 5 feet tall and 180 pounds, with a black sweatshirt and blue jeans, appeared and began to shout at the driver. When the victim tried to pull away, the suspect grabbed onto the hood and then opened the front passenger door and entered the vehicle.

The Attack

The attack began immediately with the suspect punching the victim in his head and body multiple times. The suspect then bit the driver in the back and shoved him out of the SUV onto the street. The suspect then jumped behind the wheel of the SUV and sped away from the crime scene, traveling westbound on 86th Avenue toward 239th Street.

After the Attack

The suspect lost control of the vehicle and crashed into several cars before striking a tree. The suspect then emerged from the vehicle and made a run for it in an unknown direction. The police are uncertain about the whereabouts of the male passenger, who was not seen in the video at the rear of the vehicle as the suspect drove away from the location. The victim was taken to Long Island Jewish Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition and treated for a laceration to his lip and pain and swelling.
