Seven people have been arrested in connection with the torture and murder of Sam Nordquist, a 21-year-old transgender man. The suspects, Precious Arzuaga, Thomas Eavrs, Kimberly Sochia, Jennifer “Brooklyn” Quijano, Kyle Sage, Patrick Goodwin, and Emily Motyka, are facing new charges, including first-degree murder, child endangerment, and other serious crimes.

The Charges

The DA’s Office has filed charges against the seven suspects, including:

  • First-degree murder
  • Two counts of first-degree kidnapping
  • Second-degree conspiracy
  • First-degree aggravated sexual abuse
  • Endangering the welfare of a child
  • Acting in concert with each other to bring about the death of Sam Nordquist

Arzuaga’s Additional Charge

Arzuaga is also facing a first-degree coercion charge, alleging that she forced two children – 7 and 12 years old – to engage in the conduct that led to Nordquist’s death.

The Investigation and Allegations

According to investigators, Nordquist was subjected to violence and abuse starting around January 1, 2025, until his death on February 2, 2025. The DA’s Office alleges that he was:

  • Physically and sexually assaulted
  • Denied proper nutrition and hydration
  • Physically restrained
  • Forced to obey commands, treating him like a dog
  • Fed feces
  • Forced to drink urine and chew spit
  • Had bleach poured on him

Prosecutor’s Statement

Kelly Wolford, Ontario County First Assistant District Attorney, described the allegations, saying, “He was fed feces. He was forced to drink urine, and chew spit. They physically restrained him, they forced him to obey their commands, treating him like a dog. They covered his face with towels and shirts and fabric. They used duct tape, and they poured bleach on him.”

The Discovery of Nordquist’s Body

Nordquist’s body was found wrapped in a bag in a field in Yates County.

Closing Statements

“What human being could do what happened to Sam? We’ll never make sense of this case, but I will tell you everyone standing in this room and every investigator, every child advocate, every member of the Department of Social Services, every member of law enforcement worked together to get to this point,” said Kelly Wolford.

Penalties

If convicted, the suspects could face life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Conclusion

The investigation and prosecution of this heinous crime are ongoing. The community is left to grapple with the senseless and horrific nature of Nordquist’s death, and the possibility that those responsible could face life in prison for their crimes.
