CDTA Trolley Brings Hands-Only CPR Training to Local Businesses

Partnership with American Heart Association

In honor of National Wear Red Day, the American Heart Association joined forces with the Capital District Transit Authority (CDTA) to bring CPR training to local businesses in the Capital Region. The initiative aimed to educate staff members at five businesses on Hands-Only CPR training, empowering them to help others in case of a cardiac emergency.

Hands-On Training

A CDTA trolley transported CPR instructors, staff, and Capital Region Heart Ball leaders to Hometown Healthcare, National Grid, the Broadview Federal Credit Union, and CDPHP, where they received hands-on training. This training equipped employees with the necessary skills to respond to cardiac arrest situations and potentially save lives.

Heart Health Awareness

According to the American Heart Association, heart disease is the number one killer of women in America, and CPR is performed less on women than on men. Additionally, 9 out of 10 cardiac arrest victims do not survive. By learning how to properly perform Hands-Only CPR, individuals can help save not only their own lives but also the lives of those around them, including women.

Why Hands-Only CPR?

Hands-Only CPR is a simplified version of traditional CPR that focuses on chest compressions and eliminating the need for mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. This method is easy to learn, and anyone can become certified in just a few minutes. By prioritizing Hands-Only CPR, individuals can feel more confident in their ability to respond to cardiac emergencies.

Conclusion

The partnership between the American Heart Association and CDTA demonstrates a commitment to promoting heart health and saving lives in the Capital Region. By bringing Hands-Only CPR training to local businesses, the initiative aims to empower employees to take action in case of a cardiac emergency. We encourage everyone to take a few minutes to learn Hands-Only CPR and become a lifesaver.
