A mother and two children in Brooklyn were killed following a chain-reaction collision on Saturday afternoon caused by a driver with a suspended license.

The Collision

According to a preliminary investigation, at 1:04 p.m. on March 29, the driver of a silver Toyota Camry with TLC plates was headed westbound on Quentin Road when they attempted to turn right onto Ocean Parkway in Midwood.
As the Camry driver entered Ocean Parkway, law enforcement sources said, they were struck in the rear bumper by the driver of a blue Audi A3 sedan heading northbound on Ocean Parkway. The impact caused the Camry to be pushed aside while the Audi continued forward and struck the family, a mother and three children, in the crosswalk before overturning the vehicle.

Victims and Injuries

The mother, aged 35, and two children, girls aged 6 and 8, died as a result of the collision. Another child, a 4-year-old boy, is in critical condition at Maimonides Medical Center. Their identities are being withheld at this time.
NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch confirmed that the driver of the Audi, 32-year-old Miriam Uremie, was operating the vehicle with a suspended license. She was taken to NYU Langone Brooklyn in stable condition.
“This was a horrific tragedy caused by someone who shouldn’t have been on the road,” said Tisch. “A mother and two young children killed, another child fighting for his life, a family and a neighborhood devastated in an instant.”
The driver of the Camry, a 62-year-old man, was taken to Coney Island Hospital in stable condition.
