Whiskey the Labrador Mix Puppy Recovering from Surgery

Middletown, CT (NEWS10) – Whiskey, the Lab-mix puppy on board Seuk Kim’s plane that crashed in Windham High Peak, is recovering from surgery. He is being fostered by an employee of Pieper Memorial Veterinary Center.

Successful Surgery

"Surgery went really well. We did both of his fractured hind legs under one anesthesia. So we got everything taken care of and it went very smoothly," stated Dr. Ariane Jay, Veterinary Surgeon.

Rehabilitation and Care

The OR Supervisor, Cynthia Ross, brings Whiskey from her home to work where the team continues to take care of him. "We are doing a lot of the physical therapy ourselves right now," added Dr. Jay. "Whiskey could not be in better hands."

Cost-Effective Care

The vets say they are doing their best to cut costs and are below the highest estimate of $30,000 in bills. However, it will still be a big hit for the small shelter in Schoharie.

15/10 Foundation Steps In

That’s why the 15/10 Foundation is looking to pay it in full. "Last I heard, it would amount to about $15,000-20,000 and we committed to covering all of Whiskey’s care just to make sure we can take off that burden and stress," explained Sydney Babcock, Rescue and Shelter Partnerships.

Remembering the Pilot

The foundation also wants to remember the pilot who rescued Whiskey and the other dogs, asking others to donate to Mr. Kim’s family. "The transporters are such an integral part of the rescue system and making sure we can relocate dogs so honoring them in any way that we can and being involved in the situation was very meaningful to us," described Babcock.
