Brooklyn detectives are investigating a deadly shooting on Saturday that claimed a man’s life.

Shooting at Grace Towers Apartment Building

The incident occurred at approximately 5:51 p.m. on November 2 at the Grace Towers apartment building at 2060 Pitkin Avenue in New Lots. Officers from the 75th Precinct responded to a 911 call and found Aarmani Dawkins, 29, of Pennsylvania Avenue, in front of the location with bullet wounds to his neck and abdomen. EMS rushed Dawkins to Brookdale University Hospital in critical condition, but his condition deteriorated, and he died at the medical facility a short time later.

Through October 27, according to the most recent CompStat report, the 75th Precinct had seen eight homicides year-to-date, down from 18 reported at the same point in 2023. The command has also seen 45 shootings this year, one more than the 2023 year-to-date total.

Meanwhile, homicide detectives in Brooklyn are also looking for the culprit who fatally stabbed a man hours before Saturday’s shooting.

Stabbing Incident in Weeksville

The unidentified victim was attacked at 1710 Union Street in Weeksville at approximately 11:07 a.m. on November 2. Officers from the 71st Precinct found the man with multiple stab wounds on his body. Responding EMS units pronounced him dead at the scene, and police have withheld the victim’s identity pending family notification.
