Christian Brothers Academy Football Team Continues to Dominate
Sixth Straight Victory for the Brothers
The Christian Brothers Academy (CBA) football team has been on a roll, with their latest win being a 47-6 victory against Niskayuna. This is their sixth consecutive win, with an impressive average of almost 59 points per game over their last four outings.
Jones and Anderson Shine
The key to CBA’s success has been the strong connection between junior quarterback Archie Jones and senior wide receiver Lucius Anderson. This duo has emerged as the top QB/WR duo in Section II, with Jones accounting for six of CBA’s seven touchdowns. He threw for 367 yards, completing 16 of 24 passes, while Anderson was on the receiving end of three of Jones’ four TD tosses, recording seven catches for 199 yards.
Turning Point in the Game
The game stayed close in the first half, with Niskayuna taking an early lead with a 58-yard touchdown run from quarterback Cameron Grasso. However, the tide turned on the first play of the second quarter, when Jones aired out a deep ball for Anderson, who caught the ball over his defender and fought his way to the goal line to finish off a 50-yard touchdown reception, putting CBA up 14-6.
Second Half Blitz
CBA added 26 more points in the second half, maintaining their lead and winning the game 47-6. Jones also added two more rushing touchdowns, including a 28-yard keeper, to contribute to the victory.
Looking Ahead to the Next Challenge
CBA will now prepare for their biggest game of the season, a road trip to face Shaker, ranked No. 8 in the state for Class AA, on Friday at 7:00 p.m. Niskayuna, on the other hand, has a bye week and won’t return to action until Saturday, October 19, when they travel to face Class A’s Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake at 1:30 p.m.
