Police in the Bronx are investigating a brazen afternoon shooting that left one man dead and another injured on September 29.
Shooting Occurs in the 48th Precinct
According to police sources, officers from the 48th Precinct were dispatched to East 182nd Street and Mapes Avenue at around 1:50 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, police found a 29-year-old man unresponsive on the street with a gunshot wound to the head. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) pronounced him dead at the scene.
Preliminary Investigation and Description of Suspect
The preliminary investigation suggests that a single gunshot was fired, and detectives are searching for a suspect described as a man in his 30s, wearing a yellow jacket. The suspect was last seen fleeing on foot southbound on Prospect Avenue.
