The Miami Children’s Museum is celebrating October with a spook-tacular lineup of activities, including haunted houses for both the fearless and the scaredy-cats.<\/p>\n

A Scary and Not-So-Scary Halloween<\/strong><\/p>\n

The museum offers a range of options for kids of all ages. For the really little ones, there’s a not-so-scary path to explore, while parents can opt for the more thrilling haunted house experience. "We provide all types of opportunities so kids can have a not-so-scary experience, and then parents can come back through our haunted house and get the fright of it all," says Deborah Spiegelman, CEO of the Miami Children’s Museum.<\/p>\n

Frightful Fun<\/strong><\/p>\n

The haunted house is filled with a array of spooky elements, from scarecrows and skeletons to noise and activities. "You’ve got to come down and see for yourself. I can’t give it all away," teases Spiegelman. The museum’s biggest fundraiser event kicks off the ghoulish month, with a variety of exhibits and activities, including a fire truck, police motorcycle, remote control boats, and an art gallery.<\/p>\n

Supporting the Museum<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Miami Children’s Museum is a nonprofit organization, and it relies on sponsorships to provide access to its programs and exhibits. "Everything from a fire truck to a police motorcycle, our art gallery, our music gallery. We have our great dinosaur exhibit, so you can come back into a prehistoric Halloween and meet the characters," says Spiegelman.<\/p>\n

Sweet Treats<\/strong><\/p>\n

To sweeten the deal, The Salty artisan donuts is on site, offering a variety of tasty treats and goodie bags for kids. "We had a beautiful table set up with donuts for goodie take-home gifts for everyone, and we had coffee flowing for caffeinating the parents," says Andres Rodriguez, owner of The Salty.<\/p>\n

A Fun Day Out<\/strong><\/p>\n

As a parent, it can be tough to decide whether to expose your child to the scary aspects of Halloween. But with the museum’s options, there’s something for everyone. "My 5-year-old son had a fun time walking through. They were really good about asking what kind of experience we wanted, from the scariest to the least scary, there’s something for everybody," says Rodriguez.<\/p>\n
