Every high school seems to have one kid who everyone knows: the student admired by peers and respected by teachers.<\/p>\n
At Northeast High School in Oakland Park, it\u2019s Talon Frazier. He does the morning announcements with an anchorman’s voice, and he\u2019s in seven clubs and programs, so there isn\u2019t much that Talon doesn\u2019t do.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m currently ascending in a Cessna 172,\u201d Talon says as he practices in one of his school\u2019s flight simulators.<\/p>\n
Only a junior, he\u2019s earning his pilot\u2019s certification this summer, he\u2019s in the top 1% of his class academically, and Talon will lead his school\u2019s Air Force JROTC corps next year.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s a role model for kids older than him, he\u2019s a role model, definitely, for the kids younger than his peers, he sets an example for everyone around him,\u201d said Lt. Colonel Kevin White, the JROTC chief instructor.<\/p>\n
Talon’s classmates share similar sentiments, with many regarding him as a great student, cadet, and friend.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s really great to inspire people like I\u2019ve been inspired by my fellow ROTC leaders in the past, and I really want to uplift the kids as they go on further in high school,\u201d Talon explained, saying it\u2019s his way of paying it forward.<\/p>\n
Talon knows he\u2019s leading by example, his way of advising his younger peers to get involved.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s not a lot of time you have to be a kid, to be in high school, so why waste it sitting at home?\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s better to try than to just let the opportunity go to waste.\u201d<\/p>\n
This young man is not wasting any opportunities. With his dedication to his studies, leadership roles, and passion for flying, Talon Frazier is an exceptional student who is leaving a lasting legacy at Northeast High School.<\/p>\n
A: According to Talon, it’s his desire to inspire others and pay it forward, just as he has been inspired by his fellow ROTC leaders in the past.<\/p>\n
A: Talon plans to attend a university and pursue a degree in a field related to his passion for flying.<\/p>\n
