An 11-Year-Old Boy Battles for His Life After Being Attacked by Three Dogs
Deerfield Beach, FL (WSVN) – An 11-year-old boy is lucky to be alive after being bitten by three American Staffordshire Terrier mixes, leaving him with severe injuries, including six stitches.
A Scary Scene
Stephen Pierre, the boy who was attacked, spoke exclusively to 7News on Saturday, recounting the terrifying moments he encountered.
"I was heading to church when I saw a man walking downstairs with his pets," Pierre explained. "Three dogs, they were pushing him around."
He said he attempted to make contact with one of the canines, but it lunged at him, biting his hand.
"He pounced on my hand, I just stopped, and he jumped, pounced on me, and then he bit my hand," Pierre recalled.
The boy’s mother, Elette Dorsainvil, witnessed the attack from a distance, and rushed her son to the hospital.
The Attack
"He cried, ‘Mommy, I’ve something in my hand, the dog bit me,’ He cries, cries, cries, cries," Dorsainvil said, describing the horrifying scene. "I said, ‘What can I do?’ [He said], ‘Mom, call 911,’ and I called 911."
Pierre was subsequently treated for severe injuries, and taken to the hospital for further examination.
Response by Authorities
Deputies with Broward Sheriff’s Office and paramedics with Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded quickly to the situation.
All three dogs, described as American Staffordshire Terrier mixes, have been removed by Broward County Animal Control.
Investigation Ongoing
In a statement, a spokesperson for Broward County Animal Care wrote: "Following our ongoing investigation, we can confirm that all three dogs involved are American Staffordshire Terrier mixes. All three animals are currently in our custody and will remain so until the investigation is complete."
The spokesperson further stated that while a firearm was discharged during the incident, no dogs sustained gunshot wounds.
