West Palm Beach Police Deliver Christmas Miracles to Homebound Seniors

Community Effort Brings Joy to Those in Need

In a heartwarming display of kindness, West Palm Beach police officers, along with volunteers and elected officials, came together to deliver hot meals to 150 homebound and disabled seniors on Christmas morning. This initiative is made possible through The FUND, the department’s nonprofit foundation focused on helping the community.

A Selfless Act of Kindness

The officers and volunteers met at Heart and Soul Park before heading out to neighborhoods to hand-deliver hot plates. The recipients of these special meals were carefully selected by social service providers, as well as individuals the officers had met while patrolling and recognized as being in need.

A Necessity for Some

Outreach Officer Seth Buxton spoke with WPTV’s Victor Jorges about the importance of this initiative. "Some of these people, this is one of their only hot meals," he said. "Some are unsheltered, unhoused. Some have no means to cook. Some are just single, older, widowed, you know, individuals that have no one to look after them during the holidays or, matter of fact, any time of the year. So it’s nice that we could come and at least give them a hot meal, smiling face, a big hug."

A Repeat Performance

This is the second year the police department has organized this initiative, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. "Some of these people, this is one of their only hot meals," Buxton reiterated. The plan is to continue this tradition annually, with next year’s event already in the works.

Conclusion

The West Palm Beach police department’s selfless act of kindness is a shining example of the impact that can be made when individuals come together to help those in need. As the holiday season comes to a close, it is heartwarming to see the community come together to spread joy and provide for those who need it most.
