Introduction to Super Bins
Fri-yay has a new meaning for shoppers looking for discounts at the new Super Bins store at Sawgrass Mills Mall in Sunrise. It’s a large bin store with aisles and piles of customer returns and overstocked goods from major retailers like Target and Amazon. Shoppers find a treasure trove of merchandise such as home goods, electronics, toys and much more at significantly reduced prices.
On Fridays, long lines with eager shoppers have snaked around the mall since the Sunrise store opened on August 15th. You can find people camping out in line as early as 7 a.m. waiting for the doors to open at 10 a.m. Weeks later, the lines are no different on Friday mornings, which is “restock” day.
Why Fridays Are Important
On Fridays, the items are priced at $12 each. The price drops $2 each day until items are priced at $1 on Thursday, before the new batch of inventory is unloaded on Friday. Many of the items found at Super Bins are still in their original packaging from those large-scale companies.
However, the most thrilling part for many shoppers is the mystery that comes when buying an up-opened Amazon box. Who knows what is inside the box? It could be packets of tissue or a laptop, all priced at $12 and under.
Belendi Paul travels from Port St. Lucie to Sunrise to take advantage of the deals. He said the savings are worth the 1 hour and 20-minute commute he makes every time he returns to the store since it opened. Belendi said in his shopping adventures, he has found an expensive carpet, a vacuum cleaner, a robot cleaner, and more- all priced at $12 dollars or less, depending on the day he purchased.
How to Get There
The store itself is tucked away in the mall, inconspicuous to the person in search of its deals. It’s located near the Primark store with a bright yellow and neon pink sign calling attention to anyone curious enough to step inside.
Once you enter, you are met with rows and rows of boxes being dissected by dozens of hands grabbing at anything their heart desires. It’s a bit overwhelming trying to make out what each box could be, or what treasures lie inside the rows of items.
Most things are random. Some items found include a two-sided extension wall mount mirror, a pack of bamboo drawer dividers, a pizza stone and even a cool mist humidifier.
Some of the boxes are in decent condition, but there are signs posted throughout the store, and employees screaming occasionally: “Don’t open the boxes!”
If you like an item, you are expected to put it in your cart or hold on to it, until you can make your way to the unboxing station. At the station, an attendant opens the box so you can see what condition the item is in. If the product is an electrical one, they test it for you to make sure it works.
Price Schedule
Fridays are the most expensive day as items are priced at $12 dollars, but the prices drop throughout the week:
Friday-$12
Saturday- $10
Sunday- $8
Monday- $6
Tuesday- $4
Wednesday-$2
Thursday- $1
