Real-World Experience from Day One

The South Florida Sun Sentinel is currently accepting applications for paid summer internships in news, entertainment and sports reporting, multimedia/interactives or data reporting, and photo/video. With a rich history of storytelling, the Sun Sentinel offers a valuable opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in one of the nation’s most competitive news markets.

What to Expect

As an intern, you will be considered a valued member of the newsroom staff, covering breaking news stories, from the next big scoop to the latest local developments. Interns will work full-time for 10 weeks or more during the summer of 2025, where they will have the opportunity to report, write, and produce high-quality content for publication in print, online, or on social media.

The Sun Sentinel is looking for college students who have completed basic journalism courses. Prior professional experience through an internship or freelance work is preferred, but students with limited experience will also be considered. Interns can be current students or recent graduates, but must have the use of a car (mileage, tolls, and parking will be reimbursed) and own a car or have access to one. Photographers must have their own equipment.

Application Requirements

To apply, please submit a packet that includes:

  • A short letter describing your background, career goals, and internship objectives
  • A resume with three journalism-related references
  • Up to five relevant clips (for photo and multimedia candidates, please submit links containing single pictures, videos, a photo story, or multimedia pieces)

Send your application to internships@sunsentinel.com.
