Rainfall Timing

Look for periods of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms on Monday through Tuesday morning.
We could see our first break in the action later Monday morning or midday, but rain and storms will return shortly thereafter.

Weather Impacts for South Florida

South Florida can expect average rainfall in the range of 3 to 6 inches, with some spots picking up 8 inches or more.
Along with heavy rainfall, a few storms could turn severe with primary impacts being gusty winds to 60 mph+.
Additionally, an isolated tornado can’t be ruled out with the elevated shear that will be in the atmosphere.
There could also be small hail, but with how warm things have been, this threat is much lower.
This rainfall could effectively end the drought in South Florida, but areas of flooding will certainly cause headaches out there.

Miami Beach, Fort Lauderdale Look Out for Flooding

In Miami Beach, municipal parking garages have been open since Sunday night and will be open until 12 p.m. Tuesday for residents who want to keep their cars out of flood-prone areas.
The City of Fort Lauderdale asks drivers to report any impassable roads using FixItFTL or by calling the city’s Customer Service Center at 954-828-8000.
The National Weather Services advises the public to never drive through flooded roadways.
"Nearly half of all flood/flash flood fatalities are auto-related," the NWS says on its website. "Turn around and go another way."

Future Forecast

More sunshine works into the region later Tuesday, and then we turn downright hot by the end of the week and weekend.
Highs may struggle to get out of the low- to mid-80s on Monday, but 90s could hit this weekend.

Conclusion

In conclusion, South Florida is expected to experience heavy rainfall and potential flooding due to the deep moisture moving into the region. Residents are advised to stay weather aware, report any impassable roads, and never drive through flooded roadways.
