Introduction to Century 21 Stein Posner

Finding a decent boss is challenging. Finding two is even harder, but Adam Stein and Ron Posner managed to become just that: two bosses that are liked so much they are often cited as the primary reason people stay at their company.
They partially credit their opposing dynamic to their likability as leaders.
“I’m a Teddy bear, and he’s a hard ass,” Posner joked, referring to Stein.
Stein and Posner are the co-owners of CENTURY 21 Stein Posner, a real estate company in Boca Raton recognized as the top-ranked small workplace in the South Florida Sun Sentinel’s annual Top Workplaces competition for the third year in a row. (There were 170 companies of all sizes surveyed and 126 qualified as a Top Workplace. Small businesses are defined as having fewer than 125 employees in South Florida.)

The Company Culture

“It’s a special place for any number of reasons. Certainly Adam and Ron, who are the mentors for all of us at this firm, are maybe the largest part of that,” CENTURY 21 Stein Posner realtor Michael Wagner said. “They’re extremely motivating, they’re extraordinarily supportive in every way they need to be, and I think you need that more than you’ll ever think you need that, and that continues right through today. It’s always great to have somebody who you really respect that you can share ideas with and thoughts with.”
The company was initially founded as just Stein Posner in 2013 and became a franchise of Century 21 in 2019. Now, it employs 110 real estate agents, or realtors, and conducts about 50 transactions a month — put more simply, helping people buying and selling homes.

Leadership and Mentorship

On a Monday morning in March, Wagner was gifted a bottle of champagne to celebrate his 10th anniversary with the company. Besides Posner, Stein and the “incredibly supportive” agents he works with, the service being provided to clients is what’s kept Wagner at the company for a decade, he said.
“We’re very often dealing with people who are making the single most significant financial decision of their lives, an extraordinarily important decision where they’re going to raise their family, where they’re going to spend their retirement years,” Wagner said. “That’s always stressed, you know, making a living is also important, but the service that you’re providing I think is what is most important here, and that’s always driven home.”

Productivity and Performance Coaching

During Monday morning meetings at the company’s office in the Boca Corporate Center, Stein asks his team introspective questions and shares nuggets of wisdom regarding productivity, becoming one’s best self and how to be successful realtors.
Stein opened a recent meeting with the question: “What would you do if you weren’t afraid?”
He later followed this up with: “What masks am I wearing in the world?”

Business Philosophy

Stein and Posner’s business philosophy extends to more than just selling homes — CENTURY 21 Stein Posner is “a platform for entrepreneurs and leaders to grow and develop and become what they’re capable of,” Stein said.
“If that includes selling real estate, that’s what we’re we’re excited about,” he said. “That’s the core business, but we’re really in the growing-people business.”
Posner is the company’s productivity coach, and he’s developed a curriculum about productivity coaching while Stein acts as a performance coach, saying he has “an entire construct around performance coaching.” The pair of them are also big on mentorship.

Celebrating Success

This mentorship was made apparent to Rachel Greenbaum who, by mid-March, had worked at CENTURY 21 Stein Posner only for about three weeks. She’d already made a sale within that time, however.
“Adam and I, on my first interview, started having a conversation about some of the things I should be talking to my buyer about, and then I knew right away that this is a great place for me and that I belong here,” she said.
Stein and Posner are pretty adamant about keeping things fun, too. At the end of a Monday morning meeting, realtors lined up to spin a colorful wheel to earn prizes, such as money for gas or Starbucks.
“We always just want to celebrate each other, celebrate our people, celebrate their accomplishments, and we’re in it to win,” Posner said. “We’re also in it when they’re struggling as well. So it’s really important that we recognize our people for their tenure, obviously for their accomplishments on a daily basis with just succeeding in the real estate business as a whole.”
