One person died and seven others were injured in a head-on crash in South Los Angeles early Christmas Day.<\/p>\n
The collision occurred on West 53 Street at Broadway shortly before 2 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.<\/p>\n
Video from the scene shows a dark-colored SUV collided with a small sedan, and the SUV ended up on its side in front of an apartment building. Both vehicles were badly damaged.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne patient required extrication. One patient was beyond medical help and determined deceased on scene,\u201d LAFD said.<\/p>\n
Fire officials said three of the eight patients were taken to a local hospital, one in serious condition and two in fair condition. Five declined to be transported.<\/p>\n
