Highway closures and flooding have been part of daily life in the San Bernardino County mountain community for the past two weeks. The winter storm\u00a0that delivered hours of rain on Christmas Eve produced flash flooding, mudslides and debris flows in the mountain community.<\/p>\n

\n"We definitely want people to stay out of the waterways," said Christopher Prater, of the San Bernardino County Fire Department. "What seems like a little bit of water at the time that you get in could turn into a mud and debris flow. That’s very dangerous."<\/p>\n

\n"There are a lot of elderly people, and they can\u2019t leave, so it\u2019s crucial," said Britney Turner, who works at Wrightwood Fine Foods. "It\u2019s hard getting loads, but everyone has been kind and nice, and we just need community at this time."<\/p>\n
