(AP Photo\/Jayne Kamin-Oncea)\n<\/p>\n Expand<\/span><\/p>\n Teoscar Hernandez had his own uprising with another two-homer, four-RBI game as the Dodgers scored double-digit runs for the first time since June 22 in a 13-7 victory over the Washington Nationals.<\/p>\n Muncy had four hits, Hernandez had three and Mookie Betts ended an 0-for-22 downturn with his own three-hit game, his first since June 7.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s huge. It\u2019s really good to see runs put up on the board,\u201d Muncy said. \u201cThroughout the lineup, a lot of guys got a lot of hits. I know that\u2019s something you hope can kind of catapult the lineup, and hopefully we keep that going.\u201d<\/p>\n Just how much of a mixed bag has it been on offense this season? When Hernandez followed Muncy with a home run in the third inning, it was just the second time the Dodgers went back-to-back after Shohei Ohtani and Betts did it in a May 19 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks.<\/p>\n \u201cI thought we did a lot of things well tonight,\u201d Manager Dave Roberts said. \u201cYeah, Max, he picked up where he left off, just really took a lot of great swings tonight. The ability to get on the fastball, hit a couple homers, and then hit some breaking balls to still drive in a run, get some base hits, four hits, and just that presence in the lineup is so additive and just makes everyone around him better.\u201d<\/p>\n Muncy was on a 10-for-29 uprising with four home runs in the eight games leading into his injury. He missed 26 games after he departed during Clayton Kershaw\u2019s 3,000th-strikeout game on July 2 with a bruised bone in his left knee.<\/p>\n He returned to that prior form a little more than a month later.<\/p>\n \u201cI was getting to the pitches at the top of the zone,\u201d Muncy said. \u201cYou guys have heard me say this before, as long as I\u2019m doing that, I feel like my swing is in a really good spot. The pitches I was able to hit tonight, I felt really good about.\u201d<\/p>\n The Dodgers\u2019 newfound flow was further represented Tuesday by Betts\u2019 performance, which he punctuated after a fifth-inning single with a firm clap of his hands that also looked like a frustration release.<\/p>\n And yet Betts will not feel back to his former self until he is able to repeat his effort from Tuesday.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s good to get the results, but it\u2019s one game,\u201d Betts said. \u201cEvery time we talk about this, I go 0 for 20 after. So we\u2019ll see about tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n The Dodgers\u2019 lineup was built as a force able to absorb occasional struggles from some of its stars. But Betts, Freddie Freeman, Hernandez and Michael Conforto all have delivered seasons under expectations. All four either drove in or scored runs. Tommy Edman has dealt with nagging injuries and Muncy was hurt.<\/p>\n The Dodgers still lead the National League West, but Tuesday\u2019s win made them just 8-9 since the All-Star break.<\/p>\n With two months remaining in the season, Manager Dave Roberts is expressing faith that the offense, especially contributions from Betts, will return to expected norms. His insistence that Betts remains toward the top of the order is an act of faith.<\/p>\n \u201cI do think that his value as a baseball player has certainly been additive, speaking to the defense,\u201d Roberts said of his shortstop. \u201cAnd I think for me, it\u2019s not giving him any out. It\u2019s appreciating he\u2019s the best option we have at the top, near the top.<\/p>\n \u201cIf that\u2019s not confidence from a manager to a player, I don\u2019t know what is, when you\u2019re scuffling and you\u2019re going through it, that I\u2019m not going to waver. So my only ask for him, and I\u2019ve told him this, is, \u2018I want you to have as much confidence in yourself as I do. And it\u2019ll turn.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n As the rotation returns to health, with the recent addition of left-hander Blake Snell, right-hander Emmet Sheehan is showing that he wants to keep mixing it up with the Dodgers\u2019 proven starters.<\/p>\n Sheehan (3-2) gave up two runs on four hits over five innings with five strikeouts. The 25-year-old, who is returning from Tommy John surgery, has given up more than two earned runs just once in seven starts.<\/p>\n \u201cDefinitely learning, just trying to make adjustments if something\u2019s a little off in the game, and I felt good about that tonight,\u201d Sheehan said. \u201cI felt like in that last inning, I got back on what I was supposed to be doing.\u201d<\/p>\n The Dodgers’ win over the Cardinals marked a significant turnaround for the team, with Max Muncy and Teoscar Hernandez leading the charge.
