A devastating fire tore through a row of two-story townhomes in Panorama City early Saturday morning, resulting in one fatality and three others being hospitalized.

The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) responded to a call at 4:36 a.m. on December 28 at 9201 N. Wakefield Ave., north of Nordhoff Street. Upon arrival, firefighters found flames engulfing one unit of the two-story building, which had extended into a second unit. It took 70 firefighters a total of 43 minutes to extinguish the heavy flames.

Injuries and Hospitalizations

A 25-year-old man, an 83-year-old woman, and another man whose age was not disclosed were taken to hospitals in unknown conditions. The extent of their injuries is not publicly known at this time.

Prevention of Further Damage

Firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to a third attached home.
