Introduction to the Celebrations

Some roads and freeway offramps were closed Saturday evening as law enforcement agencies prepared for fans to celebrate the Los Angeles Dodgers defeating the Toronto Blue Jays in the seventh game of the World Series.

Preparations and Warnings

The Los Angeles Police Department declared a citywide tactical alert to prepare for any possible public response. The alert allows the agency to keep officers on duty beyond their normal shifts.

Dispersal Orders

At 9:35 p.m., the Los Angeles Police Department issued a dispersal order to a crowd near Crypto.com Arena at Chick Hearn Court and 11th Street, telling everyone to leave the area and that anyone who remains is subject to arrest. The crowd was ordered to walk north on Figueroa Street and west on Olympic Boulevard.
Another LAPD dispersal order was issued at 9:39 p.m. for Sunset Boulevard and Echo Park Avenue, ordering everyone in the area to leave or be subject to arrest.

Celebrations and Unrest

Broadcast reports from Pacoima showed fireworks were lit and some fans drove donuts in the street. Fireworks were also set off downtown, in Echo Park, in Little Tokyo and East Los Angeles. Law enforcement deployed tear gas at locations including Echo Park and East LA as officials worked to disperse unruly crowds.
