The First American Outpost
The first American outpost for the bakery opened January 30 in a 2,000-square-foot space at 1212 South Pacific Coast Highway.
The bakery’s Executive Chef Sakurai Tadatsugu, who invented the mou bread, made the trip over from Japan and is relocating to the area to run the kitchen.

Besides its famous bread, the cafe will offer the mou French toast, served in a mini cast-iron skillet, and savory options like the mou soup bowl with lobster bisque, clam chowder, and sandwich options that include the ginger pork, honey ham potato salad, and Tandoori chicken.
There are also paninis such as the prosciutto mozzarella, smoked salmon cream cheese, turkey ham kinpira, and tomato basil mozzarella. Besides food, the menu includes a full coffee bar featuring Caffe Luxxe beans, teas, and mocktails.
