Lost Drug Worth $1.7 Million Found Along Florida Beach
55 Pounds of Cocaine Uncovered by Fisherman
Police in Florida are on a mission to find the rightful owner of a massive drug haul worth an estimated $1.7 million after it was discovered along the Atlantic coastline.
A Baffling Discovery
The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a fisherman who stumbled upon the drugs while combing the beach. The narcotics, weighing in at a staggering 25 kilos, were reportedly left on the beach after “inadvertently fall(ing) off the back of someone’s boat.”
A Social Media Plea
To reclaim their property, the authorities have taken to social media, urging the owner to come forward with a tantalizing offer.
“If the 25 kilos of coke belongs to you, all we need you to do is come down to our Criminal Investigative Services building on Gus Hipp Blvd in Rockledge and claim your property with absolutely no strings attached,” Sheriff Wayne Ivey said on Facebook.
A Glimpse into Life Behind Bars
As part of the “no strings attached” offer, Sheriff Ivey jokingly invites the owner to spend their “staycation” at the “Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge,” affectionately referring to the Brevard County Jail. The department assures that they will keep the drugs secure in a special area while the owner decides what to do with them.
A Plea for Information
If anyone has any information about the investigation, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office encourages them to come forward and contact the department directly at 321-264-5201.
