The Rialto Police Department has arrested a 28-year-old man, Joshua Cardenas, for a hit-and-run crash that resulted in the death of his 33-year-old passenger, Rachel Martin, of Rialto.

The incident occurred on Friday at around 8:17 p.m. when a call was made to the Rialto Police Department reporting a single vehicle collision. Officers arrived at the 500 block of West Merrill Avenue just three minutes later and found Martin alone in the car with life-threatening injuries.

Police attempted to save Martin’s life with emergency first aid procedures, but unfortunately, she was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:25 p.m.
