UCLA Men’s Basketball

The UCLA Bruins played their best game of the season, defeating the No. 16 Oregon Ducks 78-52 at Pauley Pavilion. The win marks their fifth straight, and they have now gone 6-0 against their Pac-12 rivals, including a nonconference triumph over Arizona.

Tyler Bilodeau returned from an ankle injury and Aday Mara played big minutes, leading the Bruins to a dominant performance. The crowd was on their feet and roaring after a one-handed dunk by Eric Dailey Jr., who received an outlet pass from Mara that was reminiscent of legendary UCLA center Bill Walton.

USC Women’s Basketball

The USC Trojans star JuJu Watkins had a tough night, going 0-for-10 from the field in the first half. However, she and her teammates found their rhythm in the second half, leading to a 82-69 victory over Minnesota. Freshman Kiki Iriafen and the Trojans’ fleet of freshmen provided crucial contributions, extending their winning streak to 15 games.

Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers were able to overcome their exhaustion and lack of focus to defeat the Washington Wizards 134-96. LeBron James had 24 points and 11 assists in just 27 minutes, leading the team to their second win in a row. Anthony Davis, who was dealing with an abdominal strain, was unable to play.

Figure Skating

A tragic accident occurred when an American Airlines flight collided with an Army helicopter and crashed into the Potomac River, killing 14 people, including two teenage figure skaters and several coaches and officials. The incident occurred after a national development camp for promising young skaters.

Baseball

The Kia Tigers, the reigning champions of the Korean Baseball Organization, have opened their training camp in Irvine, California. The team, which is one of 10 teams in the KBO, is using the Great Park in Irvine to train. The team slogan is "One Heart, One Team."

NHL

The Tampa Bay Lightning shut out the Los Angeles Kings 3-0, with goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy making 28 saves. The Kings have now lost four straight and six of their last 10 games.

Ducks

Matt Coronato scored a natural hat trick, and goalie Dustin Wolf made 30 saves, leading the Calgary Flames to a 4-1 victory over the Anaheim Ducks. The Ducks have now lost two in a row.

Super Bowl 59

The National Football League has announced that it will investigate allegations made by massage therapists against Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker.
