Mysterious Case Unfolds
Los Angeles County’s Fire Department has launched a marine search and rescue operation in the Palos Verdes area following the disappearance of two adult men who failed to show up to a scheduled boat ramp meeting on Tuesday.
Incident Details
At approximately 5:30 a.m., lifeguards responded to a marine search and rescue request in the 1800 block of Paseo Del Mar in the Palos Verdes Estates area.
A friend of the missing individuals was scheduled to meet them at Cabrillo Marina but they did not arrive.
The friend then contacted local authorities, including the U.S. Coast Guard, and the search began.
Search Operation
Lifeguards and fire department personnel combed the area by land and by sea, faced with challenging surf conditions of around 8 to 10 feet.
A fire department drone was deployed once fog cleared, greatly aiding the search efforts.
Sheriff’s deputies and coastal patrol units from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and California State Parks Division of Boating and Waterways also joined the search.
Search Operations Update
One overturned vessel was spotted by a search team between Paddle Board Cove and Lunada Cove.
Fire department personnel accessed the scene through a nearby trail and checked the vessel for signs of occupation, but did not find any individuals inside.
A small debris field was visible north and south of the wrecked boat.
