Anaheim’s Crspie Treats opens to viral acclaim for its crispy rice desserts – Daily News

Must read

Introduction to Crspie Treats

Ever since Kellogg’s employee Mildred Day folded butter-laced molten marshmallows into Rice Krispies in 1939, crisped-rice treats have been a staple of many childhoods. Nichole and Ben Hosseinzadeh have captured this nostalgic treat with Crspie Treats, and they just opened their first brick-and-mortar space selling nothing but sweet, crispy rice treats.

The Concept and Flavors

Their Anaheim-based shop features a litany of swank flavors like Cookies & Crispies (featuring crumbled Oreo Cookies and white chocolate); Churro Crispie (cinnamon and dark chocolate); Strawberry Shortcake Crispie (strawberry and white chocolate); Carnival Crispie (mixed with crushed Circus Animal Cookies); Triple Chocolit Crispie (a four-prong attack of Cocoa Pebbles, dark chocolate, milk chocolate and white chocolate); Rainbow Cake Crispie (a Fruity Pebbles taste alongside cake batter and white chocolate topping); Orange Dreamsicle (a nod to the citrusy frozen treat with Golden Oreos); and, of course, the OG Crispie (the classic trifecta of butter, marshmallows and cereal).

Bestselling Flavors and Upcoming Treats

The Fluffernutter, according to Nichole, is her perennial bestseller. “Our fluffernutter has been sold out from day one when the shop went viral,” said Nichole. Indeed, during a recent visit, it was the only flavor unavailable – understandably so, it’s a mix of Nutter Butter cookies, white chocolate and Reese’s Pieces. “I’m currently taking pre-orders specifically on our fluffernutter,” she added. A lemon berry flavor (“that’s going to be like a lemon and berry cake-muffin type of taste”), a holiday flavor and “a top secret flavor that I’ve been testing that I’m going to introduce probably in the next month” are also in the pipeline.

The Shop and Pricing

The Crspie Treats shop features images of treats behind the counter, a small table for seating and an in-house bakery where all the treats are made on site. Background and White-Label Business

The name, Crspie Treats (with the intentional spelling), she admitted, is a clever way to honor the familiar while distinguishing their gourmet approach. It resonated with Nichole’s background in branding and her desire to create an elevated sweet experience. The cereal is sourced from Kellogg’s Rice Krispies (by the box, not industrial bags), and they use Kraft mini marshmallows. “The reason why you can see actual marshmallow pieces in our crispies is because we make them small-batch, as you would in your kitchen with your mom or whoever growing up.” Beyond its retail space, Crspie Treats has been quietly making an impact through its white-label business, which started two and a half years ago, producing a whopping 10,000 to 20,000 treats per month (all in-house, with the bakery peeking behind the door just behind the counter) for high-end clients.

Response and Opening

Since opening their Anaheim space in June, the response has been positive. However, things really took off with recent viral moments on social media, from OC Feed and Found In SoCal, leading to sellouts and pilgrimages for fans of the nostalgic sweet. “That’s when everyone started coming through, especially over the past two weeks,” said Nichole. Crspie Treats is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.; closed Saturday and Sunday. Find it: 1026 N. Tustin Avenue, Anaheim

Conclusion

Crspie Treats has undoubtedly captured the hearts of many with its creative and delicious twists on the classic crisped-rice treat. With its unique flavors, small-batch production, and commitment to quality, it’s no wonder that this Anaheim-based shop has gone viral. Whether you’re a nostalgic fan of the original treat or just looking to try something new, Crspie Treats is definitely worth a visit.
