Norms Diner Chain Expands to Las Vegas with First Out-of-State Location
New Beginnings for Norms
Iconic Southern California diner chain Norms is taking a bold step by opening its first restaurant outside of California in its 75-year history. The new location will be in Las Vegas, with a grand opening ceremony scheduled for November 9.
A New Home in Las Vegas
The new Norms will be situated on 4605 W. Charleston Blvd., just a short drive from the famous Vegas Strip. The restaurant officials hope that it will become a popular destination for 24-hour dining in Sin City. The grand opening will mark the 24th location for Norms and its first in Nevada.
A Taste of California in Las Vegas
Norms has been serving its signature hotcakes in the Los Angeles area for 75 years, with its first location opening in 1949 at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Vine Street. Instead of pancakes, Norms claims its hotcakes are "fluffier, tastier, and better." To celebrate its arrival in Vegas, Norms will be hosting a slew of grand opening events, including a ribbon-cutting ceremony with city leaders and a hotcake eating contest.
Hotcake Eating Contest
To introduce Nevada to the beloved California breakfast staple, Norms will host the first-ever Hotcake Eating Championship, sanctioned by Major League Eating, the organizing body that oversees the Fourth of July Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Championship. The contest will feature some of the best competitive eaters on the planet, including reigning hot dog champion Patrick Bertoletti. The winner will receive a $5,000 prize and the world’s first Norms Hotcakes Championship Belt, along with as many hotcakes they can eat in 10 minutes.
Restaurant Design and Amenities
The new Norms diner has been designed with special care, offering an outdoor covered patio with ample sunshine during brunch, a large 207-person dining room with wooden booths, white tables, and "pops" of the brand’s famous orange hue on chair backs and wall fixtures. The restaurant also features an illuminated "blade logo" adjacent to the Strip.
In addition to being the first Norms outside of California, this location will also be the first to feature a full bar, offering beer, wine, seltzers, and specialty cocktails all day. The eye-catching U-shaped bar is lined with additional seats, and the space will soon be complete with on-site gaming options. "Because Vegas," said officials.
Grand Opening Events and Offers
Early risers or late-night partiers can join the grand opening event on November 9 at 10 a.m. and enjoy some of Norms signature creations, including the NORMS Original Patty Melt or NORMS "Ultimate" Meatloaf. Restaurant patrons who attend between 10 a.m. and noon will also receive $10 off coupons and a free kids’ meal.
