Weather Update: Mild Conditions and Rain on the Way, But Snow and Ice to Follow

Mild Conditions and Rain for the Second Half of the Week

The Met Office has announced that mild conditions and rain are expected to hit the country in the second half of this week, with temperatures reaching highs of 16C. This is a welcome change from the recent cold weather, and many will be looking forward to the milder temperatures.

Snow and Ice on the Way for Next Week

However, the Met Office is also warning of snow and ice for the following week, with overnight frosts expected for many areas. This is a reminder that the weather can be unpredictable, and it’s always a good idea to be prepared for any conditions.

Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist’s Forecast

Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist, Tony Wisson, has given a detailed forecast of what’s to come. “Milder but unsettled conditions are moving in from the Atlantic later this week,” he said. “As the week goes on, we’re set to experience wetter conditions with showers and bands of rain moving in from the Atlantic. Western hills will see the highest rainfall totals, with 75-100mm possible here, building up from Wednesday to Friday.”

Brighter and Sunnier Spells in Between Rain Bands

Wisson also noted that there will be brighter and sunnier spells in between the bands of rain. “With temperatures possibly as high as 16°C on Thursday and Friday, it will feel much more spring-like than of late,” he said.
