George Foreman’s Legacy
Foreman was a true Houston legend, raised in the city’s Fifth Ward. He went on to become a world-renowned boxer, winning a gold medal at the 1968 Olympics and his first heavyweight title in 1973. He also launched a successful comeback in 1987, culminating in his winning the unified heavyweight title in 1994. That same year, he launched his famous George Foreman Grill, which became a huge success.
A Life of Service
In addition to his boxing career, Foreman was also an ordained minister and opened a youth center to give back to his community. After retiring from boxing for good in 1996, Foreman continued to preach at the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Houston.
Giving Back
In lieu of flowers, Foreman’s family has requested that donations be made to the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ or the George Foreman Charitable Foundation. This is a great way to honor Foreman’s legacy and continue his work in the community.
Conclusion
George Foreman’s legacy will be remembered for generations to come. His achievements in the boxing ring, his entrepreneurial spirit, and his commitment to giving back to his community make him a true legend. The city of Houston is coming together to celebrate his life, and his memory will continue to inspire and motivate people around the world.
