Introduction to Houston’s Weather
Houston is experiencing a muggy Monday morning, with a very warm afternoon and scattered storms likely. Highs will be in the low to mid 90s.
Fall Begins, But Summer-Like Weather Continues
The fall equinox occurs at 1:19 p.m., marking the start of autumn. However, it will not feel like fall today or tomorrow. Expect warm air and lots of humidity with scattered storms over the next couple of days, especially in the afternoon. The highest rain chances arrive on Wednesday and very early Thursday.
Cold Front Brings Rain and a Slight Cool-Down
A cold front is on the way and should move through on Wednesday. While it won’t bring cold air, the mornings will feel more pleasant, and there will be lower humidity on Friday and Saturday. As the front moves in on Wednesday, it will meet up with lots of Gulf moisture, making rain very likely, and it could be heavy at times.
Tropical Update
Hurricane Gabrielle is passing by Bermuda today and could get stronger over the next day or two. However, it’s moving away from the U.S. and won’t affect land over the next five days. The remnant low could bring rain to places like France or Spain in about six or seven days. Two tropical waves in the Atlantic are being watched, both with a decent chance to become tropical storms this week. They are far from Texas but could be a concern for the East Coast from Florida to North Carolina by the weekend.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Houston’s weather will remain warm and humid for the next few days, with a cold front bringing rain and a slight cool-down by the end of the week. The tropical update shows Hurricane Gabrielle moving away from the U.S., but two tropical waves in the Atlantic could become tropical storms and affect the East Coast.
