Introduction to Drop Shots HTX

Pickleball isn’t going anywhere — the racquet sport continues to score with Houstonians. The newest player on the city’s crowded court, Drop Shots HTX, stands out for one big reason: it’s entirely indoors. This unique feature sets it apart from other pickleball facilities in the area, offering players a chance to enjoy the game regardless of the weather outside.

Founders and Concept

Opening June 21, Drop Shots HTX is the brainchild of hospitality veterans Roveen Abante, Chase Lovullo, and Shawn Outlaw. According to co-founder Roveen Abante, “We didn’t just want to open a bar, we built a space where people connect, whether they’re playing or not. There’s something for everyone here.” This vision is evident in the multifaceted design of Drop Shots HTX, which combines sports, entertainment, and socializing in one venue.

Grand Opening and Facilities

Drop Shots HTX is marking its grand opening on June 21 from 12-11 pm, offering all-day open play for $5 along with $5 food and drink specials. Live DJs and giveaways will add to the experience, making it an exciting event for pickleball enthusiasts and newcomers alike. The facility boasts six professional-grade indoor courts, allowing players to enjoy the game in comfort. Off the court, guests can engage in friendly competitions of skee-ball, ping pong, arcade basketball, and cornhole in the second-floor lounge.

Dining and Entertainment

Clutch City Kitchen will provide a variety of food options, including pizzas, sandwiches, and acai bowls, to keep players energized throughout their visit. An indoor/outdoor full bar will offer 10 signature pickleball-themed cocktails, mocktails, and fresh juices crafted from local fruits and veggies. The mezzanine features nine screens that can be combined into one 195-inch television, perfect for watching sports or other events. Co-founder Shawn Outlaw emphasized, “Some venues lean into serious competition, we lean into fun. We’re the only indoor pickleball facility inside the Loop with a full bar, kitchen, lounge, and patio. But more than that, we’re the only one that feels like your new favorite neighborhood hangout, even if you never touch a paddle.”

Events and Family-Friendly Atmosphere

Drop Shots HTX plans to host various themed events, such as Glow-in-the-Dark Fridays, Tacos and Tequila Saturdays, and Pancakes and Pickball mornings, which promise to add a fun twist to the traditional pickleball experience. The venue is family-friendly until 10 pm, making it an inclusive space for players of all ages. As Outlaw noted, “We created Drop Shots HTX because we fell in love with a game that brings generations together. From our 10-year-olds to our 65-year-old parents, pickleball is for everyone. And so is this space.”

Conclusion

Drop Shots HTX is set to become a popular destination for pickleball enthusiasts and those looking for a unique entertainment experience in Houston. With its indoor courts, diverse range of activities, and welcoming atmosphere, it offers something for everyone. Located at 2520 Airline Drive, Building A, Suite 100, and open seven days a week, Drop Shots HTX is ready to serve the community and become the go-to spot for fun, sports, and socializing. Whether you’re a seasoned pickleball player or just looking for a new hangout spot, Drop Shots HTX is definitely worth checking out.
