Honoring National Police Week
Spring ISD Police gave one student the chance to serve as ‘Chief for a Day’, continuing a tradition tied to National Police Week. This unique opportunity allows a student to experience the role of a police chief and understand the importance of public service.
Meet the Chief for a Day
Clarke Jenkins, a 9th-grade student at Carl Wunsche Sr. High School and daughter of a Houston police officer, was sworn in as “Chief for a Day” by Spring ISD’s police chief on May 15. As part of her leadership role, “Chief Jenkins” went on a ride-along with a patrol officer, visited multiple campuses across the district, and participated in leadership and community engagement activities alongside district police officers.
Inspiring the Next Generation
The event is designed to inspire the next generation of leaders while honoring the values of public service. According to Rodrigue, “This event is all about inspiring the next generation while honoring the values of public service. Clarke is a remarkable student who embodies the spirit of service and leadership, and we’re proud to have her step into this role during such an important week.”
National Police Week
National Police Week is held each year during the week of May 15, recognizing law enforcement officers for their role in public safety. The week-long celebration aims to appreciate the hard work and dedication of police officers who serve and protect their communities.
