Sexual Assault Allegations Against Houston Police Captain
GALVESTON COUNTY, Texas – Court documents reveal disturbing allegations against a Houston Police captain who was arrested and charged with sex crimes against a child.
Who is Daryn Edwards?
Daryn Edwards, 59, is a 32-year veteran with the Houston Police Department (HPD). He is the captain of HPD’s Auto Theft Division and has been relieved of duty pending the outcome of an investigation.
Allegations of Sexual Assault and Possession of Child Pornography
Court documents show that the young female victim made an outcry, telling an adult that Edwards had been sexually assaulting her since she was in elementary school. The victim alleges that the sexual assaults escalated over the past year, with Edwards having sex with her between 85-100 times.
The victim also claims that Edwards would send sexually explicit pictures to her over social media and request nude photos from her as well. She states that Edwards sometimes bribed her with money to send the photos, which she did to keep Edwards from getting upset.
Additional Allegations
The documents also reveal that the victim knew Edwards was saving the photos she sent because she would get a notification of photo saved from the Snapchat app, which is one of the apps Edwards used. The victim claims that Edwards told her he had a hidden photo album with the pictures in them and threatened to "ruin her life with them."
Furthermore, Edwards allegedly used hidden cameras to capture images of the victim in compromising positions.
What’s Next?
Edwards is expected to appear before a district court judge sometime next week.
