Two People Found Dead in Houston

Two people were found dead outside Wednesday in Houston, according to city officials, who said their causes of death were not immediately determined as the region emerges from a rare winter storm.

Man Found Unresponsive outside a Church

The city, in a Wednesday afternoon statement, said a man was found unresponsive outside a church at 7198 Dixie Rd. at approximately 8:05 a.m. He had been reported missing Jan. 18 and had last been seen leaving a residence in the 7100 block of Durfee Street, according to the city.

Woman Found in a Parking Lot

At approximately 12:25 p.m., first responders found a woman in a parking lot at 1805 Congress St., according to the city.

Weather Conditions

Temperatures dipped below freezing Monday night and hovered around freezing Tuesday, when much of the Houston area was blanketed in snow. Temperatures plunged into the teens early Wednesday morning before the region began to thaw.

Melted snow left on the ground during Houston’s ‘once in a generation’ snowstorm Tuesday froze overnight, leaving patches of dangerous black ice on roadways.

City and county officials encouraged people to stay off of the major roadways Wednesday. More than 50 roadways were reportedly covered with patches of ice on Wednesday morning, according to Houston Transtar.
