American Consumers Showing Signs of Stress as Food Prices Remain High, Says Walmart CEO<\/strong><\/p>\n

The chief executive officer of Walmart Inc. has revealed that American consumers are exhibiting signs of stress due to stubbornly high food prices. According to Doug McMillon, the company is witnessing "stress behaviors" among budget-conscious consumers, with many running out of money before the end of the month and opting for smaller pack sizes of consumer goods.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the Economic Club of Chicago, McMillon stated that while prices for non-food items, such as apparel, are now near pre-pandemic levels, food prices remain elevated. McMillon expressed concerns about safety, taxes, and the cost of property, which led the company to close half of its stores in Chicago.
