A new Highland Park home hit the market Thursday for $34.5 million, making it one of the most expensive homes for sale in Texas.<\/p>\n
The 4400 Belmont Place listing is a 13,696-square-foot Spanish revival and Mediterranean mansion designed to evoke the Highland Park of the 1920s. Developer Blair Pogue, a native of Highland Park himself, wanted to build a house that contributed to the neighborhood he grew up in.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe wanted to specifically design a home that would contribute to the architectural landscape of Highland Park and Dallas,\u201d said Douglas Newby, the real estate agent for the property. \u201c[He] continues to add things that \u2026 enhance the home, and that\u2019s a totally different approach than we\u2019ve seen of any of the homes that are built for resale in Highland Park.\u201d<\/p>\n
The home sits on 1 acre of land, a rarity in and of itself in Highland Park. There are only 36 1-acre-plus plots in the neighborhood, Newby said. <\/p>\n
Almost all of these lots already have large homes on them or feature historic homes with multi-million-dollar renovations, making this newly built mansion one of a kind.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s still the possibility that you can tear down two or three houses to get a big lot, but to get a natural lot [like this one] is \u2026virtually impossible,\u201d Newby said. \u201cIt\u2019s not like somebody can go build a new home or replicate this home.\u201d<\/p>\n
The mansion boasts five bedrooms in the main house, complete with a primary bedroom on the first floor. The primary bedroom has a sitting room, marble fireplace and two walk-in closets as well as a view of the garden in the back of the house. Meanwhile, three of the four bedrooms on the second floor have their own balconies.<\/p>\n

In the kitchen, the high-end finishes include Moroccan artisan tile, quartzite countertops and Calcutta marble, according to the listing on Newby\u2019s website. The space also has a porte-cochere side entrance with lockers, a powder bathroom, service kitchen, butler\u2019s pantry and staff stairs to the second floor of the home.<\/p>\n
Several stain glass windows are featured throughout the house along with other marble and wood accessories.<\/p>\n
The first floor is rounded out with a library that looks out at the front of the house. <\/p>\n
Aside from bedrooms, the second floor has a playroom situated at the back of the home.<\/p>\n
On the lower level, the house has a fitness room, wine cellar and tasting room as well as several lounge bars.<\/p>\n
The backyard of the home is complete with a loggia, pool and open air pool house in addition to a garden.<\/p>\n
The listing has a private entrance off Armstrong Parkway with a gate that leads to a motor court with four garage bays. Above the garage sits a guest apartment with a bedroom and kitchenette.<\/p>\n
Both the architecture and interior design features are meant to provide a historical yet modern Spanish revival feel on a street dominated by Georgian and Colonial homes.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis home has all the advantages of a historic home and all the freshness and luxury of a brand new home,\u201d Newby said.<\/p>\n
According to The Wall Street Journal, Pogue originally bought the lot in 2021 for $9 million before breaking ground in 2022. After nearly four years of work, the house is finally ready for its new owner.<\/p>\n
