Former Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant knows a thing or two about making an impact on the field in Dallas. With that knowledge, he likes what he sees in George Pickens.<\/p>\n
The Cowboys finalized a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers for Pickens on Wednesday morning, and despite the University of Georgia product\u2019s on- and off-field issues, people, including Bryant, are optimistic about the acquisition.<\/p>\n
\u201cI love it,\u201d Bryant said in a Friday appearance on NFL Network\u2019s show \u201cThe Insiders\u201d. <\/p>\n
\u201c[The Pickens trade] is unlike the Cowboys and to see the Cowboys go out and get a playmaker like that says a lot about where they\u2019re trying to go this year,\u201d Bryant said.<\/p>\n
The former standout WR continued on to address the trade from the standpoint of the team as a whole and the Dallas front office.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s no more excuses. Fans, including myself, we gotta give Mr. Jones, Stephen Jones, Will McClay, all of those guys a break. They\u2019re going out there doing what they\u2019re supposed to do to make this team better,\u201d Bryant said.<\/p>\n
Pickens, 24, had 59 catches for 900 yards and three touchdowns last season. He posted at least 50 receptions, 800 yards and three touchdowns in each of his three seasons with the Steelers.<\/p>\n
The trade sent Pickens and a 2027 sixth-round pick to Dallas. Pittsburgh receives a 2026 third-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round selection.<\/p>\n
