Hunter didn\u2019t see the exact moment Austin was stabbed, but he held his twin in his arms as he died, their father, Jeff Metcalf said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI pray that none of this happens to another family. If you can\u2019t be a kind person, find one,\u201d Metcalf told The Dallas Morning News. \u201cWe need more compassion, more love, more understanding, better parenting and less social media.<\/p>\n
Austin was a junior at Memorial High School, where he participated in football and track, the email sent to parents on Wednesday said.<\/p>\n
\u201cTomorrow morning, we will acknowledge Austin\u2019s death during 2nd period and will offer support throughout the day,\u201d the email said. \u201cDistrict and campus counselors will be available to support your child through the grieving process.\u201d<\/p>\n
Austin\u2019s father said his son had a 4.0 GPA and was the MVP of the school\u2019s football team. Jeff Metcalf also said Austin was an avid hunter, and he, Austin and Hunter often went on family hunting trips together.<\/p>\n The family has started a GoFundMe to cover funeral expenses.<\/p>\n Karmelo Sincere Anthony, 17, of Frisco is facing a murder charge in connection to the stabbing, police said.<\/p>\n He is a student at Frisco Centennial High School, and according to his Instagram account, is also a football player at his school and received college football offers.<\/p>\n According to the police report obtained by The News, as an officer walked Karmelo to his patrol car, the teen began \u201ccrying hysterically\u201d and said \u201che put his hands on me, I told him not to.\u201d Another officer wrote in the report that Karmelo asked if what happened could be considered self-defense.<\/p>\n Karmelo remained in Collin County jail Friday in lieu of a $1 million bond, according to jail records. He faces a murder charge. An attorney listed as representing him did not immediately return messages seeking comment Friday morning.<\/p>\n Murder is a first-degree felony punishable with life in prison or confinement for five to 99 years.<\/p>\n The schools in District 11-5A for track are Frisco Centennial, Frisco Memorial, Frisco High, Frisco Emerson, Frisco Heritage, Frisco Independence, Frisco Lebanon Trail and Frisco Liberty.<\/p>\n University Interscholastic League staff \u2014 who oversee academic, athletic and music competitions in Texas \u2014 were \u201cdeeply saddened\u201d by reports of the stabbing and were working with Frisco ISD to offer support, UIL spokesperson Logan Lawrence said in a statement.<\/p>\n \u201cOur thoughts go out to those impacted,\u201d Lawrence said.<\/p>\n Following the stabbing, the meet was postponed until Monday, when it will be held at Little Elm\u2019s Lobo Stadium with additional security.
