<\/p>\nTwo Dallas restaurants, a steakhouse called Tango Room and a bakery called Commissary, are expanding to Frisco\u2019s Hall Park in 2026.<\/p>\n
The partnership comes from two Texas billionaires: entrepreneur, philanthropist and winery owner Craig Hall and oilman, film producer and hotelier Tim Headington. It would seem that the two \u2014 each real estate investors with a stake in Dallas-Fort Worth growth \u2014 would have shared notes for years. <\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019re probably the two most like-minded developers in Dallas,\u201d said Jeny Bania, chief marketing officer for Headington Companies.<\/p>\n
And yet, the two didn\u2019t know one another until their teams brought them together. <\/p>\n

Hall Park in Frisco is just south of The Star, which is the headquarters of the Dallas Cowboys. From this vantage point, you can see the blue Ford Center, the Cowboys’ training facility. <\/p>\n

Hall was growing his $7 billion development along the Dallas North Tollway in Frisco, on land he\u2019s owned since 1989. His team wanted both a casual cafe and a high-end restaurant to add to Hall Park\u2019s current phase, which includes 16 buildings and more than 2.5 million square feet of office space. Hall Park has one main restaurant right now, Italian spot Palato, plus five others in the plaza. There\u2019s room for \u201ca few\u201d others, said Allison Carp, communications director for Hall Group.<\/p>\n
Bania\u2019s team pitched Commissary and Tango Room, two Headington restaurants in downtown Dallas and the Design District, respectively, that could serve people in Hall Park\u2019s luxury apartments and offices in Frisco.<\/p>\n
It was one of the few times Headington considered a move north. For more than 20 years, Headington has been a champion of downtown Dallas, having developed the Joule Hotel and a handful of restaurants around it. Hall, meanwhile, had purchased 5 acres in 1995 in downtown Dallas, in what we now call the Dallas Arts District. <\/p>\n
Headington envisioned Tango Room as \u201ca jewel box in the Design District\u201d that wouldn\u2019t be duplicated.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut the response surpassed anything we anticipated,\u201d Headington said in an email to The Dallas Morning News. \u201cI\u2019ve had several longtime dining clients ask if they could invest in additional locations, which is usually a sign that you\u2019ve struck a chord. That enthusiasm made us take a closer look at what Tango Room could become beyond our original thinking.\u201d <\/p>\n

He noted the \u201ctremendous growth\u201d in Frisco, which Hall had been bullish on for decades. The 175-acre property where Tango Room and Commissary will expand to was bought by Hall so long ago, it was once too far north for the Tollway to run through it.<\/p>\n
\u201cI believed in Frisco long before the growth reached there,\u201d Hall said in an email to The News. \u201cEven when it was just farmland with cows, the potential seemed good.\u201d He credits George Purefoy, Frisco\u2019s first city manager, and the mayors after that, for the growth north. <\/p>\n
\u201cWatching Frisco grow and succeed has been exciting and rewarding, and we\u2019ve been lucky to be part of it,\u201d Hall said.<\/p>\n
Tango Room and Commissary will be on the ground level at Hall Park\u2019s apartment building, the Monarch, with views of a 6-acre park and Hall Park Hotel.<\/p>\n
