A 12-year-old student was taken into custody Thursday after he allegedly made verbal threats toward a school administrator, Wylie Police Department Detective Alexandra Waters said in a statement.<\/p>\n
A Wylie School Resource Officer responded to Frank McMillan Junior High School at about 2 p.m. after reports of a student making threats against an administrator, Waters said.<\/p>\n
Once the officer arrived on scene, the student continued to make verbal threats and \u201clunged\u201d toward the officer\u2019s gun several times.<\/p>\n
The student, whose name was not released because he is a minor, was restrained and taken into custody, according to officials.<\/p>\n
He faces charges of terroristic threat with fear of serious bodily injury and attempting to take a weapon from a peace officer, according to Waters.<\/p>\n
According to a statement sent out to parents and staff at about 2:50 p.m. by McMillan Junior High Principal Jason Irvin, the student was originally sent to the administrator\u2019s office after he allegedly misbehaved in class.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe student will not be back on campus and will be disciplined in accordance with the Wylie ISD Student Code of Conduct,\u201d Ervin said in the statement.<\/p>\n
The student did not make contact with the officer\u2019s gun, Ervin said.<\/p>\n
Ervin urged that students or parents who know of concerning behavior should report it immediately.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Wylie Police Department wants to remind parents and students that we take all threats seriously and will not tolerate any threats towards our campuses or Wylie ISD staff,\u201d Waters said in the statement.<\/p>\n
No students were present when the incident occurred, and no one was harmed, according to officials.<\/p>\n
