Jake Oettinger will be paying a little extra homage to the Dallas Stars\u2019 lone Stanley Cup champion squad as the team unveils its newest uniforms Friday night. <\/p>\n
As the Stars take the ice against the Utah Mammoth, donning threads featuring a legacy Stars logo with the team\u2019s modern Victory green color scheme, Oettinger will be wearing a mask fit for an eagle. <\/p>\n
Well, \u201cThe Eagle,\u201d actually. <\/p>\n
In addition to the current Stars goaltender\u2019s traditional otter, a pair of eagles wings will also grace the sides of Oettinger\u2019s helmet in honor of Ed Belfour. <\/p>\n
The Hall of Fame goalie who was known for the eagles painted on his masks was in between the pipes for all 23 games of the 1999 postseason, and made 53 saves in the Cup-clinching triple-overtime victory against Buffalo. <\/p>\n
Among some of the more detailed features of the uniforms, the collar of the new third jersey also reads \u201c3OT 1999.\u2033<\/p>\n
Oettinger\u2019s mask, along with the uniforms, will make their debuts Friday night at American Airlines Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.<\/p>\n
