Dillard’s Closure at The Shops at Willow Bend<\/h1>\n

Another retail anchor is leaving The Shops at Willow Bend amid speculation that the site could be the new home of the Dallas Stars. The department store chain put up a sign on the door of its Dillard\u2019s Clearance location in Plano that says the store is closing and \u201cthanks for the memories.\u201d The sign points out shoppers can go to other stores in the North Texas area.<\/p>\n

The department store is an original anchor for the mall that opened nearly 25 years ago. Its pending closure follows an announcement by the other remaining anchor tenant, Neiman Marcus, that it\u2019s pulling out of the mall as well. Dillard\u2019s did not respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n

The 1.4 million-square-foot mall, the last enclosed mall built in Texas, has struggled to attract shoppers in recent years after opening in 2001 \u2014 despite hundreds of millions of dollars spent by previous owners. Retail spots throughout the mall recently stood empty. It also lost another anchor, Macy\u2019s, earlier this year.<\/p>\n
