\u201cThe evidence spoke clearly that this was not just about some sort of road rage incident,\u201d said Robyn Beckham, a Kaufman County assistant district attorney. \u201cThis was something more than that. The 32 gunshot wounds, that\u2019s what the jury needed to see.\u201d <\/p>\n
\u201cNobody is saying he didn\u2019t shoot him. He shot him. He was justified. He was scared,\u201d Abigail Spain, the defense attorney, told jurors during closing arguments, according to KXAS-TV. \u201cHe used deadly force because he thought it was going to be used against him.\u201d<\/p>\n
Because prosecutors were not seeking the death penalty, the judge, under Texas law, was compelled to impose a life sentence.<\/p>\n
