The last days of June are likely to be the month’s hottest, but just how hot will things get?

The heat dome that affected much of the eastern United States earlier this week was expected to drive temperatures in North Texas up several degrees as it weakened. While an increase in temperature is still expected, it may not be as sharp.

Earlier this week, the National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office had forecast the metro area’s first 100-degree day of 2025 arriving this weekend. As conditions have changed, the forecast for Sunday and Monday is now expected to top out at 98 degrees. While the two-degree difference may seem small, hitting triple digits is a closely watched milestone, signaling to many that the Texas summer is at its hottest.

Through the first 26 days of the month, June’s hottest temperature was 95 degrees, reached twice. The region may hit that temperature a third time Saturday before climbing higher.
